Wire Harness Routing help from 12a guys
Spent a bunch of time cleaning up the engine bay and rewrapping the harness throughout. The problem is, I can't quite remember where the harness runs , specifically, around the brake booster and lines, where the tiedowns are for the wires that go to the carb and alternator (emissions have been deleted), and finally around the front (lights, radiator, oscillator). Simple explanations are good, pics are good, but both would be Tony the Tiger.

please post as many pics as you can. I am in the same shoes. it is easy to disassemble...but when it comes to putting things back, especially electrical....hmmmm we all know the story...

Without the engine bay is more than I could have ever hoped for. Would it be too much to ask for a pic with the engine in so I can see how the sections that go to the carb and alternator attach (if you have one)?
Let this be lesson to all you oldies. Low post count does not necessarily mean useless posts and no real help.

Wish I'd known about this place earlier - - could have dodged a few tough lessons over the years.
Prepare for picture bomb after quitting time here in SoCal.

part 3: Engine
ENGINE
In the final pictures, the engine main connector is not yet plugged in. It routes under the oil filter mount, and there'sa soft metal piece that grips the rubber bobbin you see on it, to hold it in place.
Hope this all helps, even though your car is one 'era' newer.

I'll be the first to say that is the nicest stock engine bay on this forum. I dare anyone to find one nicer.
Thanks in spades, this will be super helpful to me. One more question though:
The ties that hold the harness to the bay, where do you get new ones? I destroyed all of mine getting to the bay.
And, way to make me feel shitty, I thought I was doing a pretty decent job at cleaning everything up, but now I feel like a ******.

If it's any consolation, it's kind of dusty now...

yeah, I kinda had big hopes for mine but my landlord got foreclosed on and so I'm getting evicted and need to get the car outta the garage and onto at least a flatbed to move, if not moving under its own steam. Rebuild got kinda shot down so I figure if I get the harness good enough that'll be a good place to start for later on. Baby steps to rotary perfection.

Absolutely.
Oh, and that fancy gold paint for the bolts and details turned out to be a terrible idea... engine heat made it look like soap after a couple months, lost all it's gloss.
I've been slowly redoing parts with a blue clearcoat laquer instead. Stands the heat a lot better.

DD - Holy **** that is one SPANKING engine compartment man!! WELL DONE - love the gold anodized effect - and keeping the engine color simple and understated really makes everything else pop nicely!! Even the cross member and steering box... your a brave man to paint the exhaust shield blue!! But the details really take your breath away - thanks for the detailed pics - obviously a labor of love - and believe me, this is from someone who has gone over my engine comp with a TOOTH brush!
Sorry to jack the thread glewsRX!! pics just stopped me cold -
BUT you can buy a lot of those wire ties at blackdragonauto.com at about 50 cents ea.
cheers

divin: thats excellent work! hope you bring it to sevenstock
everyone else: you can still buy a lot of those clips from mazda, although it'll add up to decent money ($14 zip ties anyone?) option 2 is to go junkyarding, they pretty much use the same clips up into the 90's.... so any mazda is good for em

Divin, your an *** dude. man If I was your neighbor forget about it i would be over your crib all the time as long as I was welcome and it was a day to play with the cars. I wish I had some Rx7 fanatics closer to me. Oh well but this will do with the ability to post pictures and the extremely descriptive instructions and tutorials I've seen here it's almost as if we were all neighbors.
