Question Wiper Motor, 85 GS Rx7

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement wiper motor (front) for an 85 Rx7?

The price I got from Napa was $275, and that seems VERY expensive to me. I'm up for buying used too, but finding Fb Rx7's in canada isnt the easiest.

Any help would be great!

Tyler.

Yes, place a ad in the classifieds here or you can get a rebuilt one from blackdragonauto for $100.00 exchange plus shipping.

Also are you sure that the motor is bad and that the wiper rack linkage is not seized up which is quite common.

I'm Positive that the linkage isnt seized, I pulled the linkage out to check that (it was at first) so I'm assuming the motor burned out. I used a Voltmeter to check the wires, and the motor is getting power its just not spinning Its getting between 12-14V at the motor.

Maybe the shoes wore out? It looks like its the origina motorl. Is there a rebuild kit one can get for just the linkage too? I may as well rebuild that if I'm replacing the motor.

Thanks again

I was having wiper motor trouble too - I fixed it thus:
  1. Open up the motor housing, it's pretty dirty inside; blast it clean with aerosol electronics (contact) cleaner, then reapply lube to all parts that need it.
  2. Notice that all electrical contacts (for the brushes) on the brush plate are riveted together - some loose, some burned too. If the brushes are worn down, replace them.
  3. Get out the soldering kit, heat up the riveted connections and apply liberal amounts of rosin flux (do not use acid flux!); this did a good job of cleaning things up.
  4. Blast clean with more electronics cleaner. repeat these two steps until everything is perfectly clean.
  5. Once thoroughly cleaned, solder the riveted contacts solid. If you don't have perfectly clean contacts, the solder will not flow and bond everything and you will fail.
The motor runs like new now.
