Will this be too loud?
After installing my header I still need to put another 'muffler' in between the header and connecting pipe to complete my exhaust. I'm thinking about putting a dynatech split flow muffler there in conjunction with my 'can style' 10'' muffler at the tip. Dynatech says between 5-10DB reduction, and I figure the tip muffler would be good for another 2 or so. But knowing HOW LOUD it is open header, I'm not sure if it will be enough...
Here is the dynatech in question:

I don't want it to be super quiet, just legal and so it won't make my ears bleed.

Go to eBay and look under this seller's name.

You should be able to find a pre-silencer that will fit your needs. I recommend a 14" long oval, with a a center inlet on one end, offset on the other. He has the best Borla prices I've seen on the net.

Remember that hi-flow mufflers cancel out sound by knocking out certain frequencies, so 2 may be cancelling out the same frequencies and therefore not be much quieter.
As long as you get low notes it tends to be less annoying.

Yes I remember seeing that. If its too loud, I will chop off the tip muffler and stick on a racing beat universal 2.5'' muffler, that should make it manageable.

Alright well I just got back from the muffler shop after installing my dynatech, and I have to say the noise level is just about ideal. Its actually quieter than stock (with exhaust leak) at partial throttle, but livens up quite a bit at wide open. All together it sounds and flows way better than stock!
2.5'' from header to tip with a dynatech split flow muffler, and a 10'' resonator at the tip. It breaks up in the higher RPM's unfortunately and kind of sounds raspy. Give me a few minutes and I'll get a vid. All in all its more aggressive than the racing beat without being annoyingly loud under normal driving. (exactly what I wanted ) I would recommend the dynatech split flow, it does work on a rotary.
edit: here is the vid
