Will my 82 tokico Shocks and strut cartriges work with a GSL-SE suspension?

Im planning on swapping to SE suspension soon.

Most of my original control arms and driveshaft will work, but Im unclear on the shox.

I would assume that the rear shocks would work fine, as the mounting points are the same, but will my 82 front strut cartriges work with the SE struts.

thanks

yes, it will but you must only use the strut assembly, mount hte strut assy. to brake inlet duct which is also the caliper mounting bracket there are 4 14mm bolts that go through the brake inlet duct to the strut assy. that is the only way i just did that this morning cuz my tokico adj. coil overs were destroyed but thats a hole nother story.

Simplified answer.

Yes the tokico strut cartridges will fit the Se. The only difference on the Se that if i remember correctly in the box they came with was a different upper nut for the Se's. You might want to contact tokico and double check on this.

Let me try to explain a little better. when you buy new stuts you get a cartidge the slides into the existing old strut assembly at the base of the assembly there are 4 14mm mounting bolts for the caliper to mount to and is also a rotor inlet duct for cooling the rotors. Since the SE calipers are larger the mounting holes for the 82 will not work with the SE calipers so you must just use the SE brake assembly only, not the suspension. I know this works cuz i did this 2 days ago because i bought an SE with eibach adj. coil overs that were shot so i used a strut assembly from my 84 gsl that had KYB struts and RB springs. OOPs it will only work with the 84 85 since the 84 85 have larger bearings, sorry your screwed.

All of the replacement strut cartridges simply say "fits 79-85", so I would assume they are the same physical size, and interchangeable.
If the SE's used a different cartridge, there would (or should) be a notation about which cars the cartridges would/would not fit.
