Will this find my vacume leak?
I had an idea at lunch today. If I start the car and have somebody give it some gas..say 2000 rpm..then mist some water around the carb with a spray bottle, wont the bad hose like make noises as it sucks in the water? And since it is a mist it shouldnt really hurt it too bad...right? Since I am 90% sure I have a vacume leak I would rather find it myself than pay somebody to.

I dont think that a mist will do the trick , but if you have a spray a small controlled stream down the length of each hose individually the vacuum will suck water into the leak and cause a lope in the idle (in order to be effective try to hit only one hose at a time)
you could also use wd-40 or pb blaster and it will cause the engine to revv when you find the leak
and if you want to save yourself a lot of time go out and buy a set of silicon hoses and replace the all one at a time (if you are sure it is a vacuum leak)
hope it helps
