I have gray cloth TII seats in my 83
Some owners on here just use the FB rails on the TII seats, but I opted to modify the FC rails a little (just had to slot one of the holes on the driver's side, I think it was, to get it to line up correctly)
The seats are actually out of my car at the moment, I'll snap a picture or two for you when I get the chance.

Good condition TII seat (1 of 2 pictured, of course )
This is the only modification I had to make, otherwise the FC rails bolted right in (passenger side needed no modification). Just slot the right front hole on the drivers seat and you are good to go
In case you are not familliar with the FC rails, they are a little beefier and I also like the fact that both rails lock. On the FB rails only one side locks..

What looks like holes in the fabric on the passenger seat is indentations and discoloration of the material from a kiddie seat. I'll have to restain the fabric once both of the kids are 50 lbs+ or 8 years old, the legal limits here in Texas where they can just sit in the seat without a booster or anything.
I can honestly say it's a lot better than the stock FB seat even the leather ones, examples of which are in my Parents '85 GSL. I have had a chance for direct comparisons in hard driving between the three types of seats. I can also say the TII seat is NOT enough seat for a road course or even a slalom run. It may have been the stock seat belts, but it seemed like a struggle to stay in the seat around long curves and any abrupt corner transitions...still, I love them since they only cost me $40 from a junkyard and $25 more in the pro vinyl dye spray and fabric color-change rattle cans.
As far as differences between FC seats, I couldn't say...these were actually clumsily attached to an FB already...it was one of those sad stories...guy spent every nickel restoring the car and modifying it a bit, fresh paint job and then the car gets totaled not too much later. He/she must have said to Hell with it all and screw rotaries because that car was a gold mine. Fresh black carpet, fresh black panels, perfect black dash (which I would end up destroying in the exact same manner as described above....), perfect black trim pieces like the A-pillars and the rear speaker covers...nice find you don't get handed to you often.

I'm going to be purchasing some Black/Black Leather Rx8 seats soon, and the write-ups for it increases the height of it by 2". I'm hoping that when I get them, I can somehow mount them a bit better, since it seems like I am taller than the original poster of the "How to" thread. If you guys are interested, I can try to document it so others can try to mount it the same, but I don't know if I can make it better than his though.
In the end I think getting TII seats are the easiest to install. They feel like bucket seats but more padded, kind of like a baseball glove that is just broken in. A real bucket seat feels like a thin old glove. I was going to get some nice TII seats but I like the fact that I can get heated seats in a car with no AC/Heater and it comes with the rotary emblem in the headrest. How can you not love that?
