Exclamation Will this compressor work? GSL - Nippondenso

My AC compressor has been leaking on the belt side for a while, just took it off today. I've been told it will be a pain to find a replacement, since it's an 85 GSL. But I ran the PN and came across a Nippondenso compressor for an 84-85 Honda Accord. It is the same thing right? Any reason I shouldn't buy it or be able to use a compressor from that vehicle?

I know this thread exists where the same question is brought up: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=867686

Anybody have any advice as far as replacing or getting AC to work? Is a rebuild possible?

Call to get a price, but this is listed for an 85 gsl.

Or you can replace the shaft seal, special tool/s needed.

there are 2 AC systems. the ND and the "sanden". the US govt offers a tax break for cars with no AC, so most mazda's come to the US with no AC.

anyways, the ND unit was installed in japan, and it is on the GSL-SE 100% of the time, the GSL with power steering 100% of the time, and any other build it's fairly rare, maybe 10-15%. it can be ID'ed by looking at the compressor, the ND unit has 2 lines, and the side that goes into the evaporator turns into a metal pipe that goes around the engine bay.

the "sanden" system is the port installed system. if you have an 81-85 12A car its probably what it came with. the compressor has a block fitting with 2 rubber lines.

the SA's actually have a variety of systems, it *seems* like most cars didn't have AC, and maybe there wasn't a kit from mazda initially or something

I definitely have the ND system. Is the "sanden" the same thing as Wynn's?
