Will a 79 Steering Box work in a 84 ???
I take it that you have manual steering? I can tell you that all the steering components for
79-85 are the same. IE; idler arm, pitman arm, tie rods. What i don't know is what the difference is if any between the steering columns, this means where the shaft goes into the
gear box. Also don't know if the 79 has the same bolt pattern that bolts to the frame?
Do you have excessive play? If so, have you tried to adjust it. Big question is why do you need to replace gear box? rx7doctor

It is manual steering , i forgot to mention that my problem is that the gear inside the box is worn out so it slips at high speeds, ill have to look at the bolt pattern but so far the only thing ive noticed that is different is the top cover on the steering box, but it seems to have the same mounting bolts so i think i might just be able to switch the shaft that comes out of the top....
