Wildlife......
Man... I just got home, and about a mile before my house, 4 or 5 deer are on the side of the road. I try breaking, slide, cause its icy, try to swerve around them, they walked out into my lane, so I went into the on comming traffic lane. Then one decides to go for it, and smokes my front fender....... So I am pissed right away, and keep driving home. I get home look, the damage isn't terrible, but its not cool....I decide to drive back and see how the deer is. He is sitting there on the highway, looking around. I pull up beside him, and it gets up and walks away...

The most interesting animal I've ever hit was a raccoon. Ran it over with my '94 Taurus. I look back and the 'coon is rolling down the road tucked into a ball and my lower front valance is rolling not far behind and not nearly so gracefully. It lands off the road so I say "f' it" and take the movie back back [it was almost late!] and intend to pick up the valance on the way home. Well, when I get there, the raccoon is quite alive and watching me from some high grass. I hiss at it and it runs away, looking perfectly healthy. My valance however was ruined. Apparently it gave easily enough that it didn't even hurt him.

I've had a couple close calls with deer before, but I've never actually hit one. Closest I came was while driving home in my mother's dodge caravan. A doe runs out in front of me while I'm going 65 mph on a two-lane highway. I dodge right and barely miss, but I wind up on the shoulder [if there was one, really] and when I try to get back onto the road a tire blows and sends me flying across the highway and onto the other shoulder, through a couple of bushes and finally back onto the road. Not fun.

I had a deer run out in front of me in the middle of town the other day. I hit it with my rex. Luckily, I hit it at the right front of the bumper. It spun around and left a small scratch.
I also have a bird stuck in my front airdam of my maxima. eek...

I did run over an armadillo once, also. At 80 mph. I was pulling bloody chunks of the shell out from under the car for a few months.

Don't mind my stories of roadkill, as I'm only trying to get 100 posts so I can get my own avatar.

Deer are crazy this time of year, nearly 12 months ago I would spend about 15hrs a day on the road (back roads) and deer dodging just gave you a reason not to get lazy and not scan the ditches because sure as you stop looking 1 or 2 or 5 will jump right out in front of ya.

I was following my buddy in his colt. A deer jumps out and gets his butt slapped by my friends bumper, nothing too high speed so we keep driving, about 10 seconds later the same deer runs back up to the van and head buts the rear fender with it's horns. Funniest darn thing I had ever seen. I nailed a crow on the windshield of my ford escort (go ahead and laugh). Scared the hell out of my friend in the passenger seat.

That's because you live in CA, dude.
There's no such thing as an import salvage yard within 150 miles of where I live...
Deer suck, living in the farm belt, most people including myself have many a story of near misses or wrecks.
They routinely cause more damage than what most FB's are worth, and will jump out at you right after installing those stupid whistling alerts, so you learn to NEVER let your guard down.
After a while they get easier to spot, sort of like what some people refer to as good "cop-vision"

I've been driving country roads for years and swerved around many a deer, but sometimes they are so bloody determined to mess up your car, there is nothin you can do...
I think most the older rx7's rust away up here to nothing. Out west tho is another story I am pretty sure.

It's the picture under your name when you post a message. After you get to 100 posts, you can change it to one of your own, instead of just the generic ones.
