wierd engine miss
wierd engine miss
Here is one for you guys. Normal driving, engine runs up fine. But if I take a freeway on ramp at speed, soon as I get on the freeway, she starts cutting out. If I swerve to the right a little bit she goes dead, but as soon as I swerve back to the left a little, she comes on at full power.
I know that my elec throttle positioner or controler or whatever that thing is, is out of adjustment, because she starts cutting out at about 5500 rpm in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear. If I just ease it down , she'll pull strong..... at least until I take a high speed freeway on ramp......
Anyone got any ideas??
Thanks,

Bill

have u tried the fuel filter i know it sounds ironic but hey it seems to b a common problem these days and umm u may wanna just try to get your tps readjusted that my fix it also look fo loose connections and such
Sorry about not posting the info. It is an 85 GS, 12A. I think that it definately has to be in the ignition system because it is to precise of a cut out. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen. Thanks for the tip on the filter, it has already been replaced. I know that the carb has a funky tps on it, I just have to figure out how it works. Thanks for the replies.

Is it possible that one of your floats are out of adjustment? Maybe you are loosing your gas due to the G-force of the turns emptying the float bowls out.
If you can run it flat out in a straight line without this problem, then you can rule out the fuel filter, pump, etc. If it only happens during (or right after) a hard turn, then I would guess it may be your floats. Good luck!

Thanks Kentetsu. I have noticed that I smell gas after hard cornering. I guess I'll have to give in and finally take that carb apart. Oh, how I wish it were as easy as a Holley 650.
Well maybe this weekend.
Thanks again.

You might want to get RX7Carl's opinion before you start tearing in. I was hoping he'd post his thoughts, but don't see him. Just a thought, you might want to PM him for a 2nd opinion. Good luck!
