Hey guys,
I've been searching around to try and find some rims and tires that I can put on my widebody (old CP racing kit, now the VB widebody kit with the whale tail spoiler.). Anyways I know that some widebody guys are using the CCwheels, but I want to look at some other alternatives and to price other rims out. I also am wondering if I should go with 15" rims or step up for the 17" rims. The thing is with the 17" rims I need to get a much smaller profile of tire meaning $$$... But at the same time I want something that is going to look good.

I looked at the American Racing wheels website and have noted some of there rims that I could get in a 15x12 pattern for the rear and 15x10 for the front. But as far as tires go, im in the dark all the websites seem to just let you select the make and model of vehicle and not custom dimensions... So im wondering what kind of tires you guys are using width and profile. And some of you guys running 17" dia rims what tires are you using and about how much were they?

I would like to make the wheels and tires as flush as possible to the fenders, so I think 12" rims in the back and 10" in the front will pull that off. But I would like some input with the offset that I am going to need. I realize that the rims are most likely going to be custom drilled for the 4x114.3 pattern of my GSL-SE...

There is alot of things im looking for in rims (as you can tell), I may have to go with the CCwheels, but like I said I would like to price out some of my alternatives.

And last but not least my final question, in this attached picture what rims are these on this car? This is the same body kit as I have, and I think they look pretty sweet.

those rims look like "diamond racing wheels". just google diamond racing wheels, and you;'ll get the site, and you will be pleasantly surprised when you see the prices for the wheels you want...AND the fact that they can do any offset, including our 4x110

i meant bolt pattern for the 4x110, and they have some radical offsets to work with your widebody

Thanks for the heads up on that being diamond racing wheels. That is certainally a option if the pricing is right (my car is going to look exactly like the one in my attachment above, except without the chrome windshield surround.). I am going to email them, but I am still wondering where you guys got your tires, if I can get a large enough tire for a 16" rim that may be a good route to go. But aren't 16" tires more $ because its a rarer size?

16" may be good because its not too small or too big, but if the tires are alot more expensive it may not be worth it... Lots of options at this point, suggestions are appreciated! Thanks everyone!

ya man very much more expensive. if you do a 16 or 17 and you want wide tires, you HAVE to go with a even lower profile tire which is more $$

okay i hope this makes sense. for example a 265/50/15 has a higher profile, meaning a bigger sidewall than a 205/05/15...EVEN THOUGH both tires are rated at 50 profile.

so when you go with big 17's, like a 265 wideness, then you will need like a 35 profile, cuz the usual 40 profile will be too big

diamond racing sell the chrome wheels too, not just the black in case you didn't know

If your gonna shell out the bucks for 17's,you might as well spend the money and upgrade to GSL-SE brakes all around....whoops,just realized you have an SE....oh well,here are the reasons anyways.....
1....Its a simple,bolt-on change over that wouldnt be that expensive next to the cost of the wheels
2....It will open up the choices for wheel selection VASTLY....and might even SAVE you some money on wheels because you can get cheaper cast wheels over the pricey 2 or 3 piece wheels.
3.....The GSL-SE brakes are bigger and would fill out the 17" wheels better,not to mention they would be more up to the task of stopping big tires, and such an aggresive car.The non-SE brakes are tiny.....
4....If your off by a little on your offsets,the SE pattern will allow you to use H&R spacers to get the wheels out a little.They arent expensive but are hubcentric and very high quality(German)


Personally,Id stay away from 16's simply because there arent nearly as many tire choices, compared to 17's or 15's......

I agree that the 17's look amazing on the widebodies, the only thing that doesn't look amazing is the price tag.... But I guess I have to come to realize that cutting corners will only lead to regrets.

Still no one has answered about tires, this is going to be a big factor, and I think I really should price out tires before I make my final decision. At this point I don't have a MASSIVE amount of money to be spending on these wheels, (thats why im kinda pricing this out) but I can always wait up and save...

Luiml73, the link you sent me before in your PM did not work, so I still have no clue what tires you are using. I am very interested if you remember how much they ended up costing and where you were able to find them. I really appreciate the help, most websites don't have anything CLOSE to what I want...

And Nick1, I understand how the tire profiles work (im a mechanic), I just need to find a webpage selling this size of tire so I can actually compare prices to see the actual money involved in these tires... Thanks for the help!

ummm ok what am I not getting here... how come here on Diamond racing wheels web page there is 15x12 rims for like $75? Is there something I am missing here?

Dan, they are steel wheels designed for racing... so they are light in comparison to normal steel wheels (thinner cross section) but heavier than aluminum, or magnesium. since they are an easy no firlls design, they are easy to punch out, you twist, or bend one and you throw it away and get a new one. ala racing style. since they don't have the "bling" factor most are not interested except racers, where dollar to speed ratio is very important, not the looks.

Damn, thanks for the pictures they look awesome, and thanks for the heads up on the tires. I was searching like crazy and not finding everything as far as tires goes, is there any cheaper alternatives for 17" rims that will come in the 17x12 I want for the rear? The CCwheels are amazing, but I just don't have the cash flow (and I like looking at other alternatives.).

I am still amazed at the price of the Diamond racing rims, but am really wondering if they are so weak that they would bend under street driving conditions. The rims seem to be pretty awesome, just have to decided on if I want all black rims on a all black car or to go the chrome route...

go all black/gunmetal rims.. you buy a 15" wide rim to handle better than a Lambo, not to show off to raccoons who like to touch shiny objects.
