Widebody 1st Gen Progect

I just realized our thread on my car is under NW section... thought I would link it in the 1st gen section so people can see what all goes into putting a widebody on correctly. Enjoy

I know how much work it can be to do fiberglass repair. Fortunately I started with a new kit, but it still needed a bit of work. A couple comments/questions. I fear that bonding the skirts to the front and rear fenders will crack, and not at the bonds due to the epoxy. As the body twists, the glass will begin to crack at it's weakest point. I'm not sure what you used for connectors to mechanically attach the rear fenders to the body, but you probably need twice as many as you used. I used pop rivets spaced 3-4" apart and have no cracking yet. Even with quality bonding and mechanical fasteners, most rear over fenders will show cracking at 5-7 years.

Overall I think you did a great job. Especially recreating the missing parts that had broken off. Not an easy thing to do. That takes talent and ingenuity.

Here's a link to my widebody build.

trochoid, thanks for the input, but, we actualy installed the kit per Mariah's instructions / rivet spacing suggestions. Keep in mind I used an ENTIRE tube of epoxy on EACH quarter, applying it and spreading it on BARE steel quarters and inside of fiberglass quarters per manufactures recommendation. Mariah actually recommends removing the rivets once the epoxy sets!!! (mine were left in)
So far the quarters are VERY solid... several other kits I've seen installed are only riveted in place, so, I figure rivets AND epoxy should be mo'bettah
