Wideband 02 placement

Is there any reason to believe that one of the rotors will run richer or leaner than the other on a 12A. I know on the FD, the rear rotor runs leaner because I believe the fuel pressure on the rail is lower to the rear injector, but not sure on a carb'd engine. Don't think it should matter unless maybe something like the rear rotor runs hotter because of the cooling flow or something like that. Just got my WB02 and trying to figure out where to install it.

Thanks in advance.

At the moment my front rotor is running a little higher EGT than the rear...like 50 to 100 degrees, which leads me to believe that the front is running a little leaner, but I have'nt veryfied that yet. My WB O2 is currently at the very end of my header, on the rear rotor pipe. I installed another O2 sensor bung on the front rotor pipe closer up, about half way on the header. I need to switch over the WB to the other mount one of these days to see if there is any difference.

NA rotary's exhaust run extremely hot, so I recomend not mounting the O2 closer than the halfway point of the header as the 1600+ degrees can kill the sensor and/or effect accurancy (so I have heard). However, the further you mount it back, the more delayed the response will be.

Thanks FD Racer,

Yeah I had mine on my old FD about a foot away from the end of the downpipe, but that was the old L1H1 expensive *** sensor. Now the new WB 02 are only around $60 so I do not mind replacing them a little more often. I think I will just mount a bung on each pipe about half way down the header. Nice car btw. Intersting mix of parts but sounds awesome.

Thanks again,
Mark

the fc's and fd's intake manifolds flow more air threw the rear rotor causing the rear to go lean and pop.
