why so much for rebuild

why so much for rebuild

can some one tell me why a rebuild kit for a 79 12a costs 928 bucks it doesnt look like there is that much to it do they make the parts from platnium or what how are us low buck guys supposed to be able to pay that?

The reason is most of the kits you see are mazda factory parts. There isnt a huge abundance so that drives the price too. Also there is a lot to a kit, all the rubber and the metal, that adds up to a lot of parts. Each seal gets a spring, count the seals for each rotor, it adds up quick. Thats not home depot neoprene o-rings either. It sucks I know, but when your done rebuilding you'll say "Damn that was easy!, and now I know exactly what condition my engine is in".

Alas, the days of rotary engines being cheap to build are long gone.
If you autocross your car in just two events, you are eligible for discounted parts through mazdacomp, though.

well I dont auto cross but I do tough truck race does that count the rebuild kit I looked at was rb kit does someone else know some place cheaper

You'd have to call mazdacomp and ask. I know they are accepting some drag racing as of last year. It's worth autocrossing just to get the discount IMO.

do they have 4 wheel drive autocross and do they do it on dirt because samurais dont handle that well on asphalt but get it on dirt and look out

Last I heard, Samurais were not even allowed in autocross.
Nor SUVs, for that matter.

that sucks geuss you auto crossers luck out and dont have to race the 12a samuria but it will be a great year of tough truck racing!!!

Our local sportscar club DOES have a grass autocross event with a 4WD class, but it's by invitation only.
I'm still a noob, so no invite for me.
