Why oh Why?

Having some stupid idle problems which i found part of the reason. When at an idle i get like a 1200-1300 idle. If i put it in first and engage the clutch and let the idle drop to say 600 it sticks at 900-1000. If i bump the throttle to over 1500 it will drop down to the same 1200-1300 rpm. Not understanding why a load would do that.

Next when i push on this (i'm not sure the technical term) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/GavinJuice/TB.jpg the idle will drop down to a 900-1000 idle. Same thing happens to the idle when i bump the throttle again. I see it hits that little arm and causes it to stop, does that control the pri. throttle plate? This is a pain in the ***. Advice would rock ~Gavin

Gavin,

It sounds like maybe your throttle is sticking when it closes. I would try cleaning up the TB and lubing up the mechanisms. It could also be that your return spring may be getting a little weak.

I am thinking that the throttle should close to the point where you get the lower idle, and that you can then adjust it with the idle screw on the top of the TB. However, either the plates are sticking or the return spring is no longer strong enough to consitantly return the throttle to that position. That is why sometimes it hangs up at a higher idle.

That part does appear to be a throttle stop and will mainly influence the primary plate. There is another tab on that same shaft, but closer to the TB that is used to adjust the opening point on the secondaries.
