why is my car getting so hot?
So for a while now when i drive the car for the first time of the day, it will get real hot, then it will cool down when the temp got half way. So it was fine for about 2 weeks, now it gets real hot, it goes to the first red line after the half way point. So i figured it was the thermostat-thought it was sticking. Well tonight I replaced the thermo. and gave it an oil change, also put in new coolant.- But later when im picking up my friend the car gets hotter than ive ever seen it before- and I havent driven it since- whatcha think?

Well as one sage rotorite told me once,
first thing to do w/ a newly acquired rex is take it to the shop, get the radiator flushed and the cooling system cleaned.
Prolly tons of crap in there. the LAST thing you want to do is overheat your rotary.
My local shop will do a FULL engine clean for $80, i highly reccomend it to you. See if that helps.

Here is a fast way to tesy your fan, if you can put your hand in the blades when the engine is going and it stops your fan cluch is shot, if it chews your fingers up take some advil and drink a few beers and think of the money you saved not having to take it to the shop. LOL

If is not the fan clutch just buy a new radiator, beleave me cleaning the old one does not work that well, I have tried before and it only cleans a fraction of the problem.
Flushing is a good idea on cars under 10 years old when there is still a chance, but if you do not do it often then the stuff in there gets so glogged that it is bonded to the metal
