why is fuel leaking out my air/vent solenoid?
I rebuilt my carb. Put it on and fuel everywhere. Posted here and some dudes gave me some suggestions. Yanked the carb off and the needles, springs and float levels all look good.
Put it back on thinking that all would be cool, and the damn thing starts leaking major fuel. I had no Idea where the fuel was coming from, but i moved some vacume hoses and from what i can tell is that is comming from my air/vent solenoid.
Where did i mess up at?

well, its a new day and i think i will pull that carb off again for a third time and check it out again. maybe i got the jets wrong? i guess before i pull it, i will check to see how much gas i am getting into my carb from my fuel pump. i think i read that a stock fuel pump will give you about 14cc per minute.
the good thing about this is that i am getting fast at yanking that carb. that back left attaching bolt is a real *****.
any help would be cool. i have been researching the archives, but nothing totally specific yet.

Jets won't do it. It almost has to be a stuck float or needle valve. Same thing happened to me the first time I rebuilt mine. When I finally fixed it, I took the plugs out and turned the engine over by hand a couple of times to clear the fuel out of the rotor housings, and dried the plugs.
Good luck,
Rich

thanks mgb,
nice pics....
i kind of think it has to be the float set-up or a stuck needle valve. i did put some 3-1 oil and tried to work it in a little before putting the air horn back on the main body. i will pull it and check that stuff out again. like i said before, i am getting good at pulling that carb and stripping it down.
later,
looking at a 914 today.....

Airflow is my life
Try a drop of oil on the hinge/axle points for the floats, and a drop on the tip of each needle. They tend to flood till the needles find their set. Also tapping on the banjo bolts with a screwdriver handle helps seat them.

ok.....finally......
it's amazing what one little washer will do for you... when carl suggested tapping on the banjo bolts i got to looking at the spacing of the entire unit and realized that i didn't have a washer in.....
doen't leak anymore. it runs...just have to figure out the idle and fuel/air mixture adjustments.....
thanks everyone.....beers on me.....
