Why don't people like our cars?

hey everybody,

im pretty new here, as i've only gotten my car in the past 3 months, and only recently gotten my license. Im still in high school and i drive my beautiful new acquisition, an 84 GSL there. I thought i was in good company as one of my teachers drives a 79, as well. I drive up the first day i get my license, and i think im pimpin around, peacin it out, and im feelin pretty good, you know? im all happy, go to class, come out for lunch and i see my car has a key mark along the side of it! im pissed, and now all i get is grief from the rich kids whose parents bought them new civics and put niche wheels on it. why are people like this?? jealous maybe?? hopefully...

peace

Join the club, I put up with all kinds of **** and abuse at school with my car... it's different technology and people don't like different, in fact, some people are afraid of different... Anyways, don't put up with it... find out who did it and kick their asses. Then, after you plaster them across the sidewalk, let them heal and then make them paint your car perfectly. I think one of the biggest reasons though, is that they are jealous. Everyone in your school that knows half of anything about cars knows that your Rex would kill those rich kids' Civics...

That's my 2 bits...

Rather then kick their asses in the playground kick their asses on the street not many Hondas that would touch us out there.
People ar afraid of what they don't know and in the case of the Rex they should be.

defacing someone's car is the epitome of selfishness. If anyone ever did that to my car I'd hit the roof. People just don't understand the cars, and 99% of people don't understand the sheer pleasure of just driving. Not racing, just driving, which these cars excel at. (well both really, but that's not my point ) Let the rich kids have their econo-family-boxes, I'll take my "not practical" 2 seat sports car any day.

It's fear, it's jealousy, it's teenage stupidity, don't put up with it.

*I* love all RX-7's, SA22C, FB, FC, FD. (tho I love mine the most ) F the losers that dont' know enough to at least respect other people's property.

I can only imagine what some people I work with must think. I'm a 25 year old engineer working for a teir 1 supplier to automotive industry. My wife and I have a $32k truck and a $23k car and I still prefer driving my $3000 16 year old SE. And I'm 6'4" so when I pull up in the morning at work, I must get some strange looks. But, I've gotten one very posative comment on my SE (right after I waxed it) and one negative comment when it had a dent in the front corner panel. I don't really care what they think becuase it is a blast to drive. But, if I were in high school and all the cool people have shiney new Mustangs and Camaros (like I see in my old high school) and I showw up in an FB, I'd be sure to not instigate anything. Many high school students are punks. I was then too. Live and learn. For now, complain to the principal.

I agree, thats cold ****,,,you want to GET these people,,,Right
Your gonna need a photo of the car before any damage,if you don't have one,,start now, both sides, front and back, buy a newspaper and set it on your car and take a photo, the newspaper (for the dates)is allowed in courts(not many know that)the idea is to start a record, you have a photo/news paper
(dated)of the car,the next time your car is vandelized at school
take a photo/newspaper (dated)of the damage done,where on
school lot,and what time,,keep this recorded data up to date.
what you are doing is building a case(rock solid)for the police.
because when,or IF someone is caught.that is your proof, and
that's how you sue,,,to win every time

Man I would **** that boy up. It has always been a strong opinion of mine that "You don't mess with my car". He is a *****, for one. If he was any kind of a man he would say something to you or do it to your car when your there. Best advice is let that little bastard know that your not going to be pushed around. If not for your car then for yourself. Once they know they can..,,they will.

Cool

Dude, im a Junior in high school and people laugh at my GSL all the time. I get the "blender" comments regarding the exaust sound. People laugh at the old rims i got. People say it cant beat a pinto. You know what? IGNORE THEM. THey got beamers, Rustangs, Honda POS's. My best friend drives a 2001 Corvette with Nitros..(PS, NEVER try to race a corvette in an rx7 even when you are joking around, he had me beat in 1st gear, jerk...) But guess what? They are spoiled. What are they going to do after college when thier vet breaks, they cant affford to fix it and are driving older cars? All we can do is go up (rx8 or 3rd gen Rx7 ) Besides, our cars are funner to drive, cheaper, and we can actually work on the damn things. I still dont know jac about cars, but i know i can do ALOT more on mine than Brian can on his Vett. Point is, they are just spoling themselves..we will be the ones laughing when they are driving thier $12,000 neons and we are driving our 3rd gen rx7's which, when i get out of college, should be going for around $12,000 Turbo 3rd Gen VS pos Neon...NOW who is laughing

Personally....

I'd do more in the way of a lawsuit. It's more humiliating and retaliation with violence is less likely. It's great to have a 1984 car repainted at someone else's expense. Court allows you to choose where (which equates to price) your car is repainted so get 2 high price estimates and spare no expense. I imagine if you are in high school, $2000 bucks is not easy to come by so he'd probably rather get his *** kicked than have to payoff 2grand.

if its just in the paint you can wet sand it and it'll buff right out. if its to the metal...jason's right sue 'em for a high price paint job but then fix it with touch up paint As for not likeing our cars i had thanksgiving with my moms at her friends house and the lady had a son thats a senior in high school w/ a '01 mustang GT you should have seen his face when i rolled up in the 7. What kinda car is that, can you take me for a ride, how many pistons does it have...so i think its safe to say jealousy is a factor; but in high school some one was proablly just jealous or mad at you.
-theres my 2 cents

It sounds like more of a personal vendetta than a hatred for your FB, bro.

However, people hate our sevens because they can't understand them. They would rather drive cars with engines 160 years dated than new, superior technology.

Oh, and make sure you point and laugh at the kids in the expensive cars that mommy and daddy bought them. I'm proud to say that i've worked for every car I ever owned. As much as I crave for a shiny FD, it's not within my means, and it won't make me a better person.

Hey Mallard Duck
I agree people don't like what they don't understand. But the technology is not exactly new. Rotary technology has been around for a very long time. In fact GM at one point planned to have 85% of their new cars as rotaries in the early seventies. By the way there was a two and four rotor corvette in the pre production stages.
AS to vettes, they may be fast in a straight line, but check them out at the track. I saw beemers and rexes eating them alive in the twisties. Can you say WALLOW?

I posted an article with the exact same information in the FC forum, so i'm aware of GM's research. The fact of the matter is that the Wankel design is still lightyears ahead of the piston engine, as far as efficiency/work and weight/hp.

I seem to remember hearing just about all major US automakers had rotary project going at one time or another during the 70s. Not one of them stuck through it and made a production vehicle.

Others have said it before, document the incident as much as possible. Start some legal action against this bottom-feeder. Interview any witnesses, collect names, phone numbers and addresses. In a way this is good education on how people opperate. Some people never grow up after highschool, so look forward to this behavior.

I've got a mustang GT and a 83 GSL (street-ported, racing beat intake/holley carb, -se rear-end) and prefer to drive the GSL HANDS DOWN. It's not even a contest. The Mustang suspension is absolutely disgusting. Sure spinning the tires is easy, but taking a corner, esp on a bumpy road (solid rear axle) sucks sooooo bad. It's a 98 too so it has the real stoopid head design as well waiting for $$ to swap on 2001 heads.

hey APT CSVT, I am an engineer for a teir 1 supplier as well (mostly GM).
