Why does everyone prefer the SE?

In fact, other than the time I accidentally discovered my car had a fuel-pump cutoff swtich, she never had a problem until the end of the engine's life...
Z-beater, I'm probably getting 135 hp or so from my 12A, with the exhaust worked just right. And 23-24 MPG on my highway commute, mostly at 80 mph. Can SEs do this? I'm not prejudice, I'll probably buy an SE someday, but are SEs any better than GSLs for putting on miles?

When I started looking for my project I was simply out for ANY clean FB I could find To put a 6port B in that my freind had laying around into. But about a week later I saw an add for the SE I have now, bought it and then proceded to go a little crazy with it in the money department.
As said many times above, They just come with more good **** standard.
If two identical shape cars were for sale, a GSl and a GSL-SE for simmilar prices, one would be foolish not to buy the SE

Whoops, too much beer. On the exhaust, it's the Florida legal version, gut the first two cats and put in a pipe for the main one. Sweet car, my favorite. My new one has an aftermarket cat and's pretty peppy too. Are SEs that much faster?

My old SE was still going strong when the body started to give out to rust at 150,000 miles.
My new one's engine started to die at about 145,000 miles, and kicked the bucket completely about 1000 miles later...

That said I can appreciate the simplicity of my '85 base model too...
I think I must be lucky, my damn rotaries just keep spinning around. My Buttometer is saying around 130 hp for my 84 GSL, but the main thing is I can cruise with the big guys at 80 mph, who needs more than that? Do the SEs take off when you need to pass some objectionable traffic at 80 mph? Just curious.

My first one was rusty when I bought it. It was my first car, so I wanted somthing I could beat on without feeling bad.
My new one has just gotten the rusty wheel wells taken care of, and it's getting Krowned (like Zeibart, but Canadian) as soon as I get it back...
ive driven a lot of miles on a GSL-SE, it was damn nice compared to my first 85 GS, but i must say there is something to be said about the weight difference on the 12a powered cars, simpler to work on, and are great in the twisties. however the SE has the torque to pull it out of the corners a lot faster.
all in all id rather have a GSL-SE, but then again i think i'd rather just swap a 13b into a GS, i really dont need the extra options the SE has. headlight wipers? c'mon!

I almost bought an -SE, but I just couldn't do it. That car is worth far more restored than modded, and I wanted a car to mod. Same reason I turned down an SA. Some cars should be restored.
By far the best Gen 1 was the GT-X, an efi turboed 12A with stacks of potential. Pity the US never got it, so as a consolation prize they got the GSL-SE with a 13B six port version aimed at lowering fuel consumption not better performance.

That's my rationale as well. I bought a GSL because I figured I'd mod it, maybe heavily. If I bought a GSL-SE I would keep it stock or be able to return it to stock very quickly and easily. Same for a 1st year 7 too.
Two things.
1.) Clean and re-lube the mechanism.
2.) Add relays:
