It's probably because of the deterioration of fiberglass packing in the muffler due to high temps produced by the rotary engine. Can you give us a soundclip of it? I put a racing beat look-alike muffler on my FB and it embarrasses v8s. It is so loud to the point that I can't hear the radio even at full volume.

Glasspacks tend to be loud on any engine. I tried one on my V6 Buick LeSabre and I would have been stoped by the police at least a few times it was so loud. My one friend with a 1983 Mercury Capri with a modded 302 with dual exhaust uses two cherry bombs. One on each side. Its loud, but my RX-7 will still be louder even with a 24" long cherry bomb and 18" long Magnaflow muffler. But I have a 3" exhaust from the cherry bomb back and stock exhaust manifold before cherry bomb. When I started my car for the first time, I had ear plugs in it was so loud. But then again, I was reving it to 7 grand to keep it running. wouldn't idle at all.

Ive got two 36'rs on my 6.9l diesel one for each side, whoa, you know Im coming! If I get on it, look out, hopefully your not next to me youll be sorry. Im sure I have zero fiberglass left. I really want to get rid of them but its my weekend Home Depot/Lowes getter.

It will silence itself soon, when all the fiberglass packing melts, and stops up the exhaust.

It will find its way out the back, there isnt enough to melt and stop it up.

My car is loud enough with the RB header/presilencer into the stock canister, I don't really want to know how loud it would be with a cherry bomb or cheapo 'turbo' muffler.

lol, the very name "Cherrybomb" doesn't exactly infer quietness.

Will it really? I don't know. It seems as if the more I drive it and the time I've have had the muffler on there, the more louder it is.
