I was told to have Classic/Historical status in NY it needs to be 25 years old+. I know that's true for getting classic status from the DMV (I looked into for my 79). Also, I know that you're limited to the amount of miles/time you drive it, as it's generally reserved for cars that are driven to/from car shows and that's it.

I'm pretty sure it's 15yrs for classic and 25yrs for antique according to State Farm Insurance.

I have classic car insurance on an 83 gsl. - it's about $10/month - through State Farm. The car needs to be 10 years or older. You need to provide them with a replacement price. I gave them the high retail price from nada, as it does not seem likely to replace one quickly in buffalo, ny. There is some documentation you need to fill out as to how you would "rate" the paint job, body, engine, interior (e.g. excellent, good etc.). there is a stipulation to only 1000 miles per year. and they do ask if there are any modifications, but they write that down on the paper work rather then disallow it. Also, they took about 10 pictures of the car, including interior and engine bay shots.

the $120 a year, includes collsion with a 200 deductible, full glass and comprehensive, towing, but i do have additional policy discounts and an accident free discount. If you take it off the road for the winter, comp only was like 4 bucks a month, but you have to turn in the plates in nys. Hope that helps. njw

Grundy ins, or the other one that is advertised on Speed channel, has unlimited milage, (or so they say). Iirc the car does need to be garaged. Have no idea about prices though.

IIRC approx $120 per year for $20,000 coverage. Grundy and Hagerty (and some others) have no limit on number of miles a car can be driven per year. With specialty insurance the underwriter decides who and what to insure depending on individual situation, so YMMV. I posted this list before, but here it is again:
