Who runs a supertrapp?

I just put one of their endcaps on my car and was disappointed at the lack of noise suppression, not to mention the cap turned from a shiny chrome to a nice gold tint to a kind of unappealing dark bronze.

What does everyone else think of thier supertrapps?

It made a deafening loudness into a cool sounding exhaust. My friend has it on two vehicles. Did you use the Silent Sport pillow insert type thing? It's supposed to turn gold-ish if you're running right.

If I used one of those, I'd delete the cap and only use the Silent Sport insert. I mean, who needs an apex seal catcher anyway?

I had a spare RB presilencer so I bought a set of discs on eBay had an adapter machined then welded that into place and bolted up the endcap. It's quieter than my previous setup but I'm still disappointed that it is so loud. I've got 1.75" long primaries that go into a single 2.5" right before the axle, then into the presilencer and I've got only 6 discs in the supertrapp right now.

Do you have a pic of the supertrapp on your 7? I have been thinking about getting one, The idea's of having a muffler that is tunable is interesting to me, but I just can't picture it looking good on a first gen in my head. Also, what kind of tone does it have? Is it a "high pitch" loudness?

Ah, so you're complaining about something that isn't even set up properly. Well, I can tell you that a genuine Supertrapp exhaust is well worth the money, and sounds very good. AZrx7, it gives the exhaust a nice mellow tone. It also gets rid of that high pitched anoyance that so many people complain about in a rotary's exhaust note. A perfect example is my friend's REPU with a GSL-SE 13B. It has a regular exhaust manifold, large muffler in the middle, and a 'real' Supertrapp muffler at the end with 12 disks. Oh, it will also catch an apex seal if his engine ever looses one.

I've got this friend that used one, it was 2 smaller traps together, on a stock 12a, header with dual 2" ID pipe to the axle into one over axle to suppertrapp, man that thing was loud! He didn't feel that the suppertrapp had enough back pressure. Regardless how many disks were in it, it didn't give as much power as using the RB muffler. I like the sound the RB muffler gives to a rotary anyway.

If you use less disks it increases backpressure, right? Oh well, my experiences with them has been positive.

The more disk you put in the louder the it is. We put supertrap end peices in our GT-1 car at tracks with low sound limits. Alot of the IT rx7's run supertraps and they sound sweet!

Still like to see some pics, the supertrapp sc only cost $106 (black) from summit, I would some sort of pre-sliencer, but over-all it would be cheap.

Here's a pic of the end cap and discs hanging off my old muffler (it was a test shot to see how it would look).
