Who needs paint?

With the recent acquisition of a new car... a 1980 GS... With a PRISTINE body...

I am going to do what so many talk about, but never complete.

I'm gonna sandblast all of the paint off of it, and polish the bare metal, and clear coat over it.

I figure, I've got some uber-bling rims (the 15x7 Centerline IMSA's), and I might as well put them on an uber-bling car.

From what I've seen in the dismantling of other first gens, everything is metal.... This shouldn't be that hard of a job. It will just take FOREVER to do (I'm looking at over 2 weeks if I spend every day on it.)

it will absolutely rock if you do it... but the problem is that even the slightest dent will stand out like dogs *****.... at least with a colour you can kind of hide it a bt..... but if the body's straight and you do it i reckon it will look mint.

Has anyone seen the pics of the jaguars at some car show... complete mirror finish, i love it... but every little kids greasy hand prints would **** me off a bit

GO FOR IT!!!!
-James

P.S. Post pics when its done

But the outer shell isint one piece. There are welded seams on the top and the rear fneder to rear valence that even Mazda filled at the factory. Not sure how good itll look if you do this.

I did that to my 89 Chevy Blazer, sand blasted it and then used a wire brushing thing from our shop to polish and make it look like brushed aluminum. After the clearcoat it looked great. It had chrome trim which i left on (took off for sand blasting DUH) and it didnt show dents too much. The brushed aluminum looks great!

The front and rear bumpers are rubber/plastic. So is the valence.

If the entire body is rust-free including the sunroof (if you have one) then you are one lucky man. Be sure to post pics when you're done.

Oh, but not pics of your hands and fingers after doing all that sanding and polishing
