who made this exhaust?

I had posted this in the non-tech section but didn't get a reponse so I thought I'd try here:


I was thinking that the header and pre-silencer that is on my 84 SE is from 1989/1990. I friend of mine ordered it for me when I knew nothing about RX-7's, and I have no idea where he got it from. It looks just like an RB, but I'm wondering if it is a Rotary Engineering exhaust or not. I know that RB has been around since the early 70's, but I'm not sure when they actually started selling parts from their store in California. Do you guys think that from the date, it is most likely a RE exhaust?

MY first visit to Racing Beat store was in 1981 or 1982 when their shop was just outside the CA Angel's stadium. This was before they moved to their current location. By looking at the headers, the RB has a one-piece engine flange while the RE are split.

I say, take pics of your system and post it to be sure.

Yeah a pic is needed. I have the RE and bought it around that time. But without pics we can't tell ya at all.
