Just Currious as to who that stores their cars for the winter have yet to get them out?

I have not pulled mine out yet. The weather is still a bit too unpredictable for me.

My two RX-7's never went in storage. Salt on the roads is not a problem in sub-tropical south Alabama. I've only had to drive on ice twice in my whole life, both patches were only about a car length long. So I guess my vote distorts the poll.

There are lots of luckey people like you on the forum.

Around here I seem to drive on ice atleast 4 months a year

And I am only 20 min away from the most southern point in Canada.

Man it is a far cry from Florida in January

My RX-7 is an all-weather warrior, it's not too hard to keep the rust down with plenty of car washing or failing that never parking it in heated garages. The salt doesn't attack the metal as bad in the cold.

I live in sunny florida in the panhandle. I have never really seen ice on the roads here. It still gets below freezing though.

You should have a choice for both, lol. I'm driving the '85, while the vert went straight from storage to the body shop. I'll probably get it back when it drops from the 70s to the 40s again

I never had mine in storage. But then again, I haven't driven it all winter. I've been restoring it. But when it is on the road its staying there, no matter what the weather.

BTW, anthrax, is your car being driven yet? I saw an FB today that I haven't seen before. Its like a faded blue kind of colour. Definately not an -SE either.

edit, never mind. I just saw that you said that your car isn't out of storage yet.

That COULD be my first RX-7.

It is the other one in the pic in my avatar. If it is it is an '85 GSL

The original owner actuallly bought it back from me, when I put it up for sale after I bought the '84 GSL

Mine's out - just cautiosly because big showers of rain can suddenly appear from nowhere. It started 'first pull' on last year's gas.

Yeah, it is deffinately the one in your avatar. Very nice looking car though. I haven't seen it before. Just that once. There are a bunch that I have seen either parked or driving around once or twice, but never saw them again.

There is one right near where I bought mine (near Gray st., its black), there is a red one thats all riced out, there is a red 2nd gen, the blue one I saw yesterday, and there is another. Can't remember the colour. I might have been yours since I seen it last August.

Theres also the case of RX-7's for sale that have been sold and never seen again. The one at Banks is gone, there was another 2nd gen at that small dealer near the tracks on Queen St., and there was a red 2nd gen at Ron Koppes (not the one I have seen driving around). These three I have not seen driving around or even parked anywhere. There was also one recently for sale in front of the vacuume place on Richmond street. i wanted it for parts but it was gone before I got a chance to talk to the guy about it. Oh well. There are more RX-7's around here than you may think.

BTW, I should have my car on the road within the next 2 weeks.

Mine's been in process of cleanup, oil change, etc. for a couple weeks now, and hopefully over the next couple weeks I'm pulling the tranny and doing some work there before she goes on the road for the good weather :-D

I'd drive her in the winter except the salt is nasty here in CNY :-(

Mines been in the process of partial restoration for the past 6 months. It was not drivable when I got it. Probably not worth anything more than a parts car. But now its drivable (if only I had a working starter). It has a solid floor and lots of new and some custom parts (ie: gas tank from Geo Tracker, frankenstein carb, oil cooler moved). My gas tank used to hold 16.5 gal in the Tracker, but now it holds 12 gal. Oh well, just have to fill up every 200 miles.

Actually, the tracker tank might have worked in stock form, but it hung about 4 inches below the rear bumper. too much and it really didn't look good. So I compressed it with a 600 ton press about 2 or 3 inches. It don't look pretty (caved in in sections), but it gets the job done. Better than paying $900 for a tank from mazdatrix.

No, not at UCC. I was going home from work on Keil Dr. and it was turning left onto Keil from Grand Ave. coming from the direction of Canadian Tire. Went by it at about 6:20pm.

Kewl she may have sold it. There were a couple of holes in the flour, and there had been a bit of body work done to it.

I might pull mine out this weekend. The custom exhaust has been put on hold for a bit. Ran into a self imposed cash flow problem...

oh well I don't plan on getting rid of the car so just wait a few more weeks (months)...
