Who has 2nd gen seats?

I searched for an old thread on this stuff and didn't find anything so I think it's safe.

I'm going to be buying some GTU seats for my car and I need to make sure it's a good decision.

I just want to know how they fit. I noticed that even the stock seats sit very close to the door. If FC seats are wider they might squeaze you closer to the door.

I did read that FC seats sit lower, so I'd like to know for sure that it's true. I am 6'1 so my hair is already touching the roof.

Thanks.

they bolt on directly.. and fit fine.
turboII seats are nicer though, since they have bigger bolsters.

Are bolsters the sides that wrap around you?

I had FC seats untill I throw in a set of FD's.
FC seats will bolt in without problem, and they are comfy.

Nice,

Hey thanks guys.

Now does anyone know if the GTU seats are any different than the GXL or other lesser models?

damn, you guys have 2nd Gen seats straight bolt into your 1st gens?

I have 2nd gen in my 79, but I had to redrill the inner front mounting hole on the left seat.

but I also have a RHD aussie model, so maybe different

Normally the 2nd gen seats should be straight bolt in, as said. But some seat rails are a tight fit, mainly because of the carpet.

The gtu seats are the lowest seat model for second gens. The gxls came with a adjustable headrest, tilt, larger bolsters and a adjustable lumbar support.

Here's mine. Only cost me 40 bucks canadain at the wreckers. They are so much better than SE seats. They sit lower so i can acutually see the top of the speedo now, the cloth is so much better too. I was going to eventually get aftermarket seats but now i think i will just stick with these. As for fitment the passenger seat fits perfectly. But only 3 of the 4 drivers seat bolts line up. And the side of the seat makes a very slight indent in the armrest of the door. Doesn't really look bad or anything.
