Who else makes an intake kit for the GSL-SE 13B?
Who else makes an intake kit for the GSL-SE 13B?
Well, to my disappointment, Rotary Performance is on backorder with their air intake kits for the GSL-SE 13B, street kit. I'm currently looking around, but does anyone know of a company that offers an intake kit for my application? Thanks for any help/info in advance.
Side note: if I can't find someone else, I'll just fab up my own kit. Wish me luck on that, and I'll provide pictures if anyone wants to see.

What do you mean by Intake kit......That adapter that goes on the air flow meter to install a cone filter? If so, I used the adapter for a second Gen rx7, Fit fine. Should be pretty easy to find.
Really? To be honest, I have yet to have the time to rip apart the air box assembly to see what I'm working with.
Okay, if anyone else has ideas on how to mock up RP's intake "kit", shoot them by. I could use the help.

Who's IIRC? And K&N doesn't make a cone filter kit for my SE, I already checked their webpage. They just have the filter replacement that's currently in my air box right now.

Okay, since I've never done something like this before, how exactly would I make all this work? My car's in the shop so I can't see where the MAF is, and I don't know what to modify to make it work. Could someone give me some instructions on how?
Is this the MAF?
Is this the MAF?

yeah that looks about right it aluminum and there is an elbow sorta thing that is need for the factory airbox jjust remove and and put on the adptor and cone and your good to go!
Okay, one last dumb question. Does the cone filter go onto the adapter? Or does the intake air pipe go onto the adapter and then the cone? I'm getting the adapter but don't know if I should get cone air filter AND adapter or just the adapter and worry about piping.
EDIT: I just bought this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8045814380 From mulling it over in my head I figured that yes, the air filter fits right onto the adapter itself. HOWEVER....if anyone has suggestions for doing it up better, lemme know.

Ok All you need, is the Adapter and the air filter. You bolt the adapter to the Air Flow Meter (where the Old airbox used to be bolted to). This will basically change the end of the airflow meter to a circular shape, so that you can place the new air filter onto. The filter slides over the adaper, and then you tighten the clamp and you are done. You however will need another small filter to place on the Airpump. The reason for this, is that the airpump used to get its fresh air from the airbox, which is no longer there. For the Airpump, find a piece of hose that fits over the open end, and a tiny filter that will fit onto the hose.
Hope this helps!!

Yup, thanks for reminding me. I completely forgot (again) about the small filter that I can stick onto the airpump. Granted the eBay air cone isn't a K&N but I know it'll at least be better than that most constricting setup I have now.
Nice painted engine block, 84stock. However, I don't have a supercharger to have a top air cleaner. I have the usual GSL-SE airbox in the far right corner.
Now, just watch, tho. I'm going to grab some sheetmetal and make my own box for the cone to help draw in cold air from the outside. I'll be sure to take pictures if anyone's interested.

Maybe something like this:

You may want to look at what LongDuck did on his car too. He used a Mariah headlight vent and directed the flow into the stock air box.

Yeah, something just like that. I'll see what my imagination comes up with but yeah something like that. That's awesome looking. But, I'm not keen on the Mariah vent headlights. It looks odd.
The adaptor is made by Spectre; Air Sensor Adaptor model 8141 as Unsupa stated above. I added a K&N cone filter. You will need to make a mounting kit so that the whole unit does not flop around, but this is how it looks.
As far as the mounting kit, please tell me how you did yours or how I should go about making mine so that I have the materials on hand before the items come in.
BTW, John64, that K&N filter that you used, is this it http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=RX-4040-1 ? And, I like how clean you made your engine bay look (on your CarDomain site).
