Whining Sound When Starting After Warm
When starting my 1985 12A, I notice a whining type noise from the engine bay, that only occurs after the engine has been run long enough to warm up.
Have never heard when starting cold.
This is not a metalic sound that I would associate with starter / ring gear issues.
The previous owner made some comment relative to RPM warning, but have no idea if this is a reasonable comment.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Absolute Power is Awesome
Whining sound, I've got that too. I haven't been able to pinpoint it quite yet but I think I'm getting closer. I could tell that with my girlfriend in the passenger seat I could hear it and without her it went away. It sounds like a female voice and seems to be somehow related to the loud exhaust and the stiff ride.

Is it a whistling or a whining. If it's more of a whistle than I can understand it being a vacuum leak. Otherwise check your belt tensions. A belt could be to tight to where it's binding on a pully or to loose so it could be slipping on a pully. More description on the noise and perhaps it can be pinpointed. Where abouts in the engine bay is it coming from the front or the rear. Easiest way to find out is have someone start it up for you and then stick your head under the hood and listen. (Don't wear loose clothing or you could loose a body part) That should narrow it down some.
