While out driving my new 7 the other night...

Remember how I just got it started the other day? Well...

I took it up and down the road, maybe 1 mile total. I didn't want to do too much until I change all the fluids, etc. So anyway, the road we live on is nice and curvy, so I got to at least feel her on the road a bit. Here's the thing: It felt like it was kind of "fighting" me on the curves. It definitely like to be going straight. Now, it was sitting for the past year and a half or so... So, I'm wondering if it's a bushing issue, a steering issue, a lubrication issue, or just the fact that it needs to get back into shape. The suspension seems to have full travel, no squeaking or anything. I'm buying a GSL-SE rear set-up, so I figure I will change all the bushings on the rear... I'm also going ahead and getting new shocks/struts and the RB springs, so should I just change all the bushings while I'm down there?

Odd. I've never driven a seven that 'fought me' on the turns.

Wait, wait. . . . you know this car doesn't have power steering, right?

Yeah, I know. What I'm saying is, if you turn into a corner, it's definitely resisting the turn, and if you let go of the steering wheel, it immediately wants to straighten itself out, and not like "normal" straightening that every car does... It's bizarre.

Get an alignment, these things will beat you up if you don't... Stupid "rock and stick" (recirculating ball) steering... Also the tires are small but relitivley wide.. For 13" they are pretty wide...

Yeah, I was messing with you, man. I actually had a friend though, that asked me what the hell was wrong with the steering on my 323 (lack of power steering), and he had trouble grasping the concept of the lack of power steering!

I agree with RRTEC, you should get a full alignment. That should hep greatly.

Agreed with these guys...I was about to say power steering. Guessing from your sig you are used to 2nd gens? I purchased my car from the original owner about 3yrs ago and it has every single option but the power steering. I love not having power steering. I can feel the road a lot better and as long as you do not freak out when it kick a little you are ok.

I had an 83 GSL before, and it definitely did not do this. I think it's more than just that.
