Whats the difference between the two radiators mentioned above? Can someone please post pics? I want to make sure I order the right one for my 83 GS 13B SE swap.

Thanks, Ed

Check out: www.radiators.com

The early radiators are shorter to accomodate the oil cooler that mounts underneath. The SE had an oil cooler that mounting in front of the radiator but only model years 84-85 had the mounts built into the frame the SE oil cooler.

If you're swaping an SE engine into an early <84 body, I'd consider getting an early "short" radiator with a "mount under the radiator" type oil cooler from a <83 car. With that combination you will not have to do any special fabrication or metal cutting. I hope this helps.

The short radiators won't have enough cooling 'area' for the 13b. i believe the 84-85 cars all have a larger 'area'
radiator. my 82 radiator took a dump, so i had to replace it...thought about it,,looked around, and then i went with a 84-85 radiator, it was from a -SE, had to move the oil cooler,,make longer braided oil cooler hoses
and mounted it in the front air intake. not too much work
but a creative mind helped. the engine runs too cool now... how about using a 2ed gen radiator, and cooler too, the radiators are short.

The early radiators are 3-core radiators whereas the 84-85 are 2-core. It's my understanding the the more cores the better for cooling. The early radiators should have PLENTY of cooling capacity for any rotary including a 20b.

I agree with bob, the early, short, 3 core one should be plenty for anything. Hell, its way bigger than the one on my TA, and that engine is pretty hot, so assuming the oil cooler is in good shape it should be plenty for a 13b.
www.radiatorexpress.com is another place to look, $109 it cost me for my rad (short 82 style)
