Where is my regulator? 79 sa

I am installing an alternator from an 84 GSL into my 79 sa. I am using 1 wire to hook it up per wackyracers suggestions.

I know I have to remove the voltage regulator, but I can't find it! I searched and saw that it is supposed to be on the passenger side between the firewall and the strut tower but there is nothing there. I have pics on my phone but I can't post yet. There are a lot of relays etc on the driver side so I don't know what to unhook.

Can someone describe the regulator or post a pic?

I believe it is one of the silver boxes in the last pic. which one is it?

Also, what do I do with the wires after I disconnect the regulator? In one post i found, someone (wackyracer?) suggested splicing them together.

The last pic, the flat like box to the left should be it.

That one is much different then the ones I have had on my car though.

Yes it is the one that says Transpo on it. It looks just like the one I had on my 79GS.

Maireeka, Do you mind taking pictures of the connections in the last picture? I'm having difficulties finding all of the connections for my external regulator and the other 3 squares. My tach isn't acting right and I know it is because something isn't connected right. Can you either PM me the pictures or post them here? I just need to see them for like 10 minutes. THanks

the alt upgrade fixed my charging issues AND my tach!

my headlights seem to work properly as well.

I did not have a camera with me, it was snowing and I wanted to get inside asap. I will try to get the pics friday.
