where have all the 4-speeds gone?

Sorry for the having 2 threads at the same time ( I dont want anyone to get upset)

But, I thought that the RX-7 also came with a four speed tranny?
Does anyone have a 4 speed in their car? or are they all in the race cars now. or did they all just get thrown out.

This was just bugging me because everyone has a 5 speed, and I think a 4 speed would be pretty tight.

I think some of the SAs (79-80) had 4 speeds.

5 speed was an option for a 79. I happen to have 5 speed on mine.

The 4-speed is just the 5-speed tranny with no 5th gear.

I've seen a couple... but they are rare.

yeah, all three of my SA's have 5 speeds and i had read somewhere that most of them came with 4 speeds, so i thought Id ask but I didnt think there where as few as it seems you guys are saying there are.

Hades12, how much do you want for it, if its not to much i might be interested, my " '78" needs a tranny and I was just gunna drop a 5 speed in it, but I think a 4 speed would be awsome since its gunna be my toy car.

Nope. Same exact ratios. Same everything except there are spacers where 5th gear's drive/driven gear would be, and the 5/R shift rail is different (no "5" detent)

There is also some part pics in there. See if you can find the 79 only part.
