wheel stud options. whats the best?

im looking to swap my 85 GSL to wheel studs. from what ive seen i have two options.

option one:

http://mazdatrix.com/hsteer1.htm

http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=04-7902-0000

option two:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

here are the differences i notice. the mazdatrix is $3.50 a piece while the gorilla is $5 for four. mazdatrix would total around $60 for the studs for a car. the gorillas would total around $20. i know gorilla is a trusted name when it comes to wheel studs, lug nuts, locking lug nuts, etc. the other difference is the length. the mazdatrix ones are 2.24" long with 1.75" available for wheel bolting. the gorillas are 1.75" total with unknown amount available for wheel bolting. my main concern would be, is there sufficient bolting surface on the gorilla studs? i have no problem buying the mazdatrix studs, but i want to justify the 180% price difference before hand.

any input it greatly appreciated. thanks.

I have seen many people use the shorter studs. I don't know that I would trust the short ones myself, but I haven't heard of any issues from those who are using them.
If you aren't using spacers, they *should* be fine.

I was just curious. I have no plans to convert mine to studs. The 17mm heads on my lug bolts is a great incentive for tire shops to not use an impact wrench. Also, added theft deterant beyond the locking bolts in my lug covers......

Donnie,
Pineapple 2.25 studs fit my 15's. They are a little thicker than stock, so the 1.75's did not fit. The 2.25 are usually used for the thick 79-80 alum., as I understand, but the 1.75 fit the FB wheels. I also got the lug nuts from them, as they are open ended. I did this so if I buy wheels that may need a spacer, then they can accomodate that too. I don't mind the studs sticking out a litte of the nut. For some dumb reason to me, I feel better if they all have full engagement, even though I know they may not need it.

Travis

P.S. If you ever decide to sell your engine, let me know, am still interested. Good luck in your racing this year.

I got the 1.75in they work great, specially if you are going to use tuner lug nuts...

I paid .89 cent each from this place...

travis, thanks for the heads up. im currently running FB wheels but am either switching to the 79-80 wheels or some aftermarket wheels. the easiest route would be to use the 2.25 with the open ended lug nuts. that allows for a lot of flexibility for wheels and such. due to me moving to college later this year though i prefer to use these lug nuts to help prevent thieves from causing me to have a bad day.
