Wheel help...was just thinking...

Looking into a pair of Volk gramlight 57pro's 17*8. And I know that people have on and off debated the question as to whether or not they will fit. I know that a 17*7 with a 42 offset should fit fine but, I purchased some CP wheel adaptors awhile ago and got to thinking their probably a good 3/4'' thick. So my question is would the thickness of the wheel adaptors be enough to offset the extra 1'' worth of tires without changing the suspension or rolling the fender lips? I thought it would be enough space to the outside that the extra width would be absorbed and I wouldn't get any or little rubbing. I don't want my wheels to stick out too much. Tell my what you think.
