GA Are wheel adapters that bad?

We all know there is a short list of wheels we can put on are early 1st Gens. Yes i know you can change your setup by swapping with a GSLSE, but in my situation i already bought a LSD from a 83. I am in the process of doing a 13b swap and going out and buying a whole new rear and front end will kill me.I see a lot of people saying not to "Jerry Rig" it and do it the right way, but my pockets will not allow that. I have 13x5 Baby Supars wrapped in 215-50-13s and i want to go with 15x7s. I really like the BBS style wheel but there is others that i like also. What do you guys and girls think?

They arent bad but they do act as wheel spacers so make sure the tire wont interfere with the fender opening.

There's a lot of ballyhoo about wheel spacers, wobble bolts and the like. In my personal experience, a qualtiy manufactured adaptor/wheel spacer that is maintained and serviced to spec-- is perfectly fine to use (Yes, even on the track.)

In my neck of the woods, the popular style in which to mod a car is the "low rider," while I personally am filled with rage and hate, little feeble wheels are commonly stuck under 5500 pound land yachts, replete with sticking out of each side like a broken Matchbox car... ... Anyway, they use a number of products such as wheel spacers and/or wobble bolts to achieve their goals, with the only detriment being caused by broken wheels (for obvious reasons.)

Oh. Inb4 "Wheel spacers will overfeed your fish. Wheel spacers will come to your house and molest your dog. Wheel spacers will give you AIDS. Wheel spacers will leave the light on in your bathroom and plug in all of your AC/DC adaptors without actually plugging in the device." and so on...

Caveat emptor, etc.

Ok, that sounds ok. I lowerd my car because i had nothing to do one day and i have stock springs to put back under it. I guess i have to worry about the off set of the wheels. If anyone on the Forum are using wheel adapters, if you dont mind, or have pics please post them.

www.18racing.com carries a lot of Rota replica (read:knock off) wheels and they can have them drilled to 4X110. It takes a couple months since it will be a custom order but they can do it and the wheels are fairly cheap.

Thank you for the link. I have to get prices from them and see what the price differnce would be for getting custom wheels than spacers and wheels.

The price should be the same for the custom drilled wheels. All they are doing is drilling a different PCD in them at the factory. I was quoted the same price as the ones they had in stock for a set of 13X8 RB's in 4X110, but then I decided to go with 15X8's which they already have in 4X110.

Great link!! If you go with spacers make sure they are dual hub centric for your hub and the new rims, but i doubt you'll find them.

Here is a link for non hubcentric spacers http://www.ezaccessory.com/PhotoGall...ode=4110-4450T

I think $6-700 for properly drilled rims is much smarter vs $150 for spacers + shipping etc plus hunting for used rims....

That is so true, but money dosnt grow on trees these days for me.You can find some decent used wheels out there, it just takes a little looking around. My heart is set on a set of older style BBS mesh. Something like what came on the 2nd gens.

there is also the option of going with the respeed kit to use the turbo2 brakes on your car. This will utilize the hubs from the second gen thus giving you a wider range of wheel selection.

18racing.com wont order custom drilled wheels unless they can order a bulk amount of that wheel and have people to buy them. i called them a while back because i wanted a certain 15x8 wheel that they had but they had the wrong color. they told me they would only get the new ones in my color if i had more people that would buy them as well

I like those too!

I am currently running the "Mazda" BBS wheels from the 2nd Gen Convertible and they look pretty nice, but don't have the "3 Piece" look of the RS-1's.

I really wish I could find a nice set of BBS RS-1's in 17" size for my car though.

Like this one (these are 16"):

IL i I HAVE A PAIR FOR SALE

I had the same situation. I have se struts on the front and an '83 lsd. I bought a set of four and only used two. It worked great especially since i am using them on rear. They are one inch thick and did not rub w/205-45-16 tires. I'll take 75.00 shipped, that's what i paid. Let me know.
