Question What's this bolt-thread meant to have in it?

Going over my old photos from when I pulled off my intake manifold, I noticed a thread with nothing in it. Just wondering if anyone knows what this is for? Should there be a bolt in here to seal something?

It's a 13B 6 port engine.

Judging by the look of the hole, I would say that there was nothing in it.

If there was something in it the threads would be clean and shiney, but there is clearly rust, and crud in there which to me indicates that there was never anything in there.

There are artifacts like that on automotive parts all the time, it may have been needed for assembly or something, but once the engin is installed it is no longer needed.

This is my best guess. I don'k know for sure

Well, after removing and installing an engine, I can say there was never anything there. The position is all wrong anyway. There is really nothing in that area that would bolt to that spot, unless its something emissions related. In that case, I don't know because the 13B that I swaped in my car had nothing there.

I am just imagining things? It looks like a bolt is supposed to go in there to hold in the flywheel inspection plate, you can see the plate perfectly in the picture... Maybe im wrong though?
