what's this thing?

Two questions:

1. what is this thing's function?

2. where's the black/white wire in the 2nd picture supposed to go?

They're obviously not too critical, as I've never had either hooked up, but before I remove them I'd like to know what they do!

Choke? I dunno.

Honestly, with the exception of the two reservoirs,(brake and clutch), - I have no idea what any of that is in the picture.

Eventually, I want to remove as much unnecessary wiring from the engine compartment as well.

judging by his avatar i'd say no. if it was the regulator then he wouldn't be moving anywhere.

that thing is what regulated jigawatts to the flux capacitor on the limited edition models. its useless unless you install the option. and directfreak, she is hot and you are going to get me fired...................

nope, it's an '83. Doesn't anyone have one of these on their own cars?

One thought, it might be from the aftermarket alarm system that was on the car when I bought it... if so, I ripped all that **** out long ago.

As for the wire.. could it be for the A/C, anyone with A/C got one of these hooked up?

ASEmaster, I have those on my car ('83 GSL). I will let you know what they are when I get home. (I need to double check before I give an answer and sound like a jackass. )

Looks like the A/C relay to me.
My rule of thumb is "if it ain't hooked up and the motor runs, you can get rid of it".
I don't know where that wire goes.
Probably to hell, according to YZF.
Me too, for lookin' at that girly picture...
