whats so special about 79 intakes?
just like the topic asks, i hear people all the time talk about a 79 carb and intake, whats so special about them and if i were to buy one how much would i be looking at to spend for a good condtion carb and intake manifold.?
Ports are bigger on 79 intakes, better flow
The carb, they also call it a big top,
Suppose to get better flow im not sure if the CFM is the same or not, alot of people like using the 79 set up..
*flow better than any other 12A stock set up..

the carbs in the very first 79's were the smallest of all of em, but these were only the jap delivered ones...

THe 79-80's with the thermo reactors didn't have the ACV and all the emissions passages in the intake. The earlier intakes had nice smooth runners. You can make the later intakes flow like the earlier ones, but it takes a couple hours of grinding/filling holes with JB.
The 79-80 carbs don't flow as well as the later carbs. I can't remember why though.
