What's the original color of my car?

I was wondering if anyone could point me to a VIN # decoder for my 1980 RX7 LE? I looked on the net and can't find anything that will tell me what options my car came with originally. Also, I would like to know the production numbers of the model types for that year and other years. Thanks in advance!

I wanted to know the ORIGINAL color of my car. It is red now from what I can tell - but I am color blind. My friends tell me it is red, but they could be lying. The car has been painted well and I can't find any color showing anywhere that would lead me to believe the color was changed. Was fire engine red an option in 1980? Also, a VIN decoder would be nice. Thanks again!

As far as I know, all the 1980 LEs came in Mazda Renissance Red. Trying to find where I read that. Glad to see another 80 Limited on the board

Does yours have the roman numeral 'X'? Mine doesn't have it, but it's been repainted.

Rotory full: Thanks for the link! Great info. I was only joking about being color blind lol. Where would you find the paint code on the car? I thought it would be in the VIN but this doesn't seem to be the case?

Innertwist: Thanks for the link also. Great info there. Yes, I think that is the color of my car. I really want to know if it really is an LS or just made to look like one. What do you mean by the roman numeral X?

Thanks for the response guys! This site is great.

oh, LS, as in Leather Sport??? First you said LE, so I thought you meant the Limited Edition. According to the article, Limiteds are supposed to have a roman numeral 'X' printed on them somewhere, but I've never seen it.
