whats the norm IDLE

i have an 85 GSE RX7 with factory engine. the car is factory through and through. I lost my choke cable the other day and i think im ideling too fast.

the engine has 67+K miles on it, no upgrades or anything.
im ideling at 1.5k RPM is this running fast.
its a 12a

i never paid too much attention to my idel so i dont know if its right on or if its running fast.

thanks guys.

I idle mine at 1000 in the summer, when you hit the AC it will drop back to 800. in the winter I leave it at 1000 to keep it running till my fingers thaw out..

Your car should idle at a rock solid rpm even with the A/C on. if your idle drops, you need to look at your idle compensation circuit. you can do a search on "AC and Idle" or "idle increase" or something along those lines.

Basically there is a vacuum diaphram (between the carb and firewall) and an actuator (white connector i believe) that controls this. there is also an adjustment on the diaphram to tune how much idle compensation is used.
