what's diff between 83 and 85 nikki?

I wanna get an extra carb to rebuild and pretty much just screw around with and I have an opportunity to get one off of an 83 limited. If I put an 83 nikki on my 85..... I know it'll fit but what's the difference between them? Will all my emission crap work with an 83 carb. Anything else I should know? TIA

Some of the emissions controls are different. My book's not handy but there's some valves/solenoids that the '85 has that the '83 doesn't have and vice-versa.

Will have to dig up my book.

Not really sure if you could, as they physically thread into the carb etc. But I'll check.

If the only difference is the emmissions crap why don't you just swap back to the 85 one when inspection time comes?

'Zactly. The stuff in consideration just alters the fuel curve at certain points... heck it'd probably pass a sniffer test (even on a dyno test) with them unplugged, in which case it doesn't really matter.

I guess its possible, but with a full RB system on there his margin between pass/fail is already razor thin. That is, if i could even pass to begin with....
