Whats this car worth?

My friend has an 85 GSL , everything works good , just the body and the interior is beat up. The gas gauge doesent work , temp sensor is broken , rust and beat up front fenders , messed up back bumper , bad , cut window seals , messed up windows , etc. Anyway he bought it for 400 bucks.

Now I was just offered an 85 with a blown engine. Body and interior are almost perfect. Its white in color just like my friends car , paint looks very good for its age.

Question is what do I offer the guy for it , body is good but engine is done , going to need a rebuild. I am in the Tristate area (PA,NJ,NY) if that plays any role in the price.
Also if the friend buys the other one , puts the two together and makes one nice car , what can he expect to sell it for.

what model 85? if its not gsl, or gsl-se, then i'd say its worth under 500 bucks. if it is gsl, or gsl-se, then i'd say up to 1000

i paid 800 (cdn) about 700 american for my 85 gsl with a b lown motor. the body is 9 out of 10, and the chasis is 8 out of 10. i consider that a good deal. the car was already painted yellow which is what i wanted to do anyways, and it had side skirts, and a rear spoiler. the interior is gray which is more desirable than brown, or red/maroon.

anyways that's what i think. the best way to get an rx7 down in price is to demand to see underneath the rear storage bins, because that is where rust always hides, and the first place to rot. if there is too much rust there, then the car is worth much less
