Whats the biggest turbo that will fit with a TII swap?
Hey guys,
First of all im kinda interested to know what the largest turbo someone with a TII swap in a FB has ran with a HKS cast turbo manifold.
The reason im asking is because my project is progressing and I may have just found the parts I need to make the car over the top. A local rotary guy is selling his dyno proven 460rwhp setup, T78 turbo on a freshily rebuilt TII. I may have to jump on this, make my car a real crazy machine.

I am not sure on the specifics of the T78 frame. But I am running a AF61 on a HKS cast manifold made for a FD. I am also not exactly sure what the differences between the FD and FC manifold are.
I have about 3/4"-1" between my turbo and the inner fender.
If you do get a "proven" setup make sure that you either get the stand-alone and or the map. I can assure you that this will save tons of money and time.
Here are a couple pictures of my turbo.

a t78 is similar in size... it will fit.
like z said, it was proven in his car with all his supporting pieces. as long as you get EVERYTHING then you'll be all good.

This is my 13B-REW with a T78 on a custom manifold, with 48mm wastegate.
Unfortunately the turbo hits the inner fender in this shot, so I need to change the manifold somewhat. Shouldn't be too hard from what I can see.

Terrified.
Holy ****. Those are some massive turbos.
I am with Robert on this one though. A not-so-laggy 400 horsepower would be tons better in street use than a high rev, lag oriented 500 horsepower in street use. But then again I have no idea in the least as to what you are going to be using this car for.

if you are going to rock a GT series turbo then get on the waiting list for A-specs GT500R.... which so oddly is about the same as a what?? T66!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!
i say get a T-66 for the best compromise in big power on low boost with less lag.
if you want 500rwhp just get a tune for some good ol' c16 WOOWOOOOOOO!!!!!

I have always wondered why most Australian 1st gen turbo setups all have the wastegate forward on the manifold. I bought mine from Australia also and it's the same thing.. Is their any benifit for having it like this? I know the steering box is on the same side on the RHD cars. Maybe that is the reason? I have attached a few pics to show what I mean..
