Same story, rear hatch pad is in fair shape but deteriorated. Carpet is gone. What do you guys replace this stuff with? I took the spare out and have a piece of wood over the hole to make it flat.
I'd love your ideas!

MW,

I took the rear carpet (and vertical curtain piece) out of my "good" resto. I went to Auto Zone and got some "replacement" carpet (they had a red one, it matched the latest resto's interior color). I had to have 2 pieces sewn together down the middle to get a large enough piece. I then templated with the original carpet and got a border sewn around the sucker. I cut out the bin openings, etc. You get the picture.

It turned out really well. Unfortunately I put a utility light down on it wiht a 100W bulb and burned 2 holes in it. The extra sunroof keeps it covered. Still looks nice.

my hatch mat was discusting when i bought my car. It was damp and smelled of mildew so i just peeled all the old insulation off of the rubber. Then I went to the fabric store and bought a bunch of replacement fabric, and tried to glue it on with 3m spray glue but that didnt work too well. Ill probably have to sew it to the old rubber mat. But in the VB catalog and on ebay you can get new carpet sets with the mats for about $200. Wether its worth it... i dunno, i guess it just depends how clean your car is.
