I think an '82 I heard was the best. I know I was going to swap an '82 radiator into my '83 so I can use the front mount oil cooler.

It doesnt matter if its tall or short. it wil be your call on where you want the oil cooler to be. Everything comes down to the cooling ability. these radiators are over 10 years old. it may look good but what about the calcium and rust built-up inside. The only advise I can give you is to be sure to get it ROD-OUT to ensure there is no blockage inside the raidator. BTW, get the 3-row radiator. As far as I know, the original tall radiators are only 2 row. well I lied.. I gave u 2 options, not 1.

All manual transmission 84-85 12a and 13b cars used the same radiator. (verified with mazda microfiche)

I personally think the 79 3 row short radiator with the oil cooler underneith it the best design.

Otherwise a 2 row tall radiator with the oil cooler out front like a GSL-SE has.

All bolt in installation, no fabrication on '84-85 cars.

Try to find a 3 row radiator. I think Mazdatrix sells one. A good investment if your car runs hot.

actually, the short radiator will bolt right on 84-85 without any modification at all.

I run a (new) stock Tall Two Row Radiator with two E-Fans. I live in HOT, Miami, FL.

The temperture never gets above 160 degrees with my
setup.

An aftermarket radiator is a neat idea, but totally un-necessary.

I think the best one is the tall 2 row radiator with a front mount oil cooler. I put an 85' rad in my car and just moved the oil cooler up front. All is good in the hood now. The rad is only a year old too. I am using an electric fan from a 91 Ford Escort.
