What would YOU do??
Hey everyone! Just have a few simple questions to ask!
First off, I just purchased an 83 Rx-7 (cant' tell what model?) Car has 178,000 miles, but runs fine IMO. Just wanted to know what mods I should start out with. Intake? Exhaust? Ignition? Dist.? (It's Carbed) I don't want to lower MPG though. What's the best method to squeeze 200 hp out of the engine? (Daily Driver) Also, what is the best suspension to install so ride is not so harsh? Thanx for your help......NICE FORUM SETUP!!!!!

Racing Beat Exhaust, MSD ignition. As for the model, it's either an 'S', 'GSL', or 'LE'. If it's a 'GSL' or 'LE' then there should be at least one emblem on the car stating what it is. If there are no emblems, no power mirrors, and a two-spoke steering wheel, then it's probably an 'S' - which was the base model. The 'GSL' had limited-slip and 4-wheel disc and the 'LE' had Chateau Silver paint, red interior, 14 inch wheels, and red trim (obvious differences).

If you don't want to lower MPG then keep it stock.
Some modification actually makes MPG go up (MSD direct fire, better exhaust) but using that power will make MPG go down.
200hp? That's actually quite a lot... like coldy says, you'll need a big street port, a "quasi-legal" sound level exhaust (to make more power you need to be louder, no way around it), and definitely a different carb.
