What wheel backspace for 225/50-13's

Does anyone know what backspace I can get away with on my 85 GS? Is the Mazda bolt pattern 4 X 4 1/4 or 4 X 110? my tape says 4 1/4. We will be using our brand new (only 3laps) Hoosier's: 225/50ZR-13 R3S04. #3 Piston on my VW has completely turned too little stones and traveled all over the engine top to bottom. Our rules allow 12a Mazda Rotary cars with stock motors. ie. no work on rotors or case. NIKKI Carb and any exhaust. I couldn't get it to idle and someone told me to take out the rats nest and Emissions garbage. I never found a rats nest. Tonight I read what the "RATS NEST" really meant. duh! and AUDI has the "BOMB" too. I could really use some help on the rims because we would like to make it to the track Saturday night with this car. Cage is still being built. I could make this a build project thread if there is interest. The intereior was stripped last night and welding will start probably Wednesday. First time out we are looking to have the correct wheel and tire combination which is what we have minus some rims. What ever camber the stock factory suspension will give us, a rebuilt carb, Rats nest removed, and the stock exhaust system unless someone recommends Mazda friendly mods. Cage, seat-harness and a cell with a piece of lexan in the windshield area. Doors welded shut. We run on a 1/2 mile Asphalt Oval with 10 Degrees of banking. The track is a real donut. The Busch North guys say there are over 6-8 turns on the track. This suits the RX7 well, I'm told. Sweeping long turns, right. It's not a paper clip track.

the GS uses the 4x110 spacing..

I use a 7" wheel with a 4" back space for road-racing.

for an economy wheel try a set of diamond wheels.

(I think that is the correct site)

for exhaust, I would go with a Racing BEat road-race header with everything else from ISC.

Thumbs up

We can run 8" rims so can I still run them with the 4 inch back space? That's what we ran on the Vee Dub unfortunately they are 4 X100, scrub radius can get messed up when you change the factory offset. And probably more than I currently understand.

Funny thing you're from Lowville....I'm from Beaver Falls.

You must be talking about Lyndaker's track, Adirondak International Speedway?

Nope, never been. Of course, I do live 700 miles away now. :/ I'd like to take a look at the 7 if I get a chance on my next visit.

Great, here's another site for the track. www.screamininnewbremen.com
and mine: www.adirondackmotorsport.com If you get here you know where to go look at the first Rotary to hit the track and I would like to be the first driver in the "D&D High Output Sport Compacts" to win in two different brands of auto. VW and next the RX7 rotary. by the way ever hear of D&D pwersports?
