What type of rims fit a GSL-SE?

Looking for types, brands fo rims that fit our "different" lug pattern?
Pictures of your favorites would be nice.

Thanks

John

Work fins look great, as well as epsilone rims (not in the pic).. but if you must be cheap, you can rock the '86 telephone dial rims from the FC

lol.... Painted the rims on my 84 GSL just like that. Black with a polished (not quite polished yet) lip.

I wonder how people search for rims... Tire Rack only lists 2 rims for the SE... Perhaps search by 4 lug FC rims? Or Honda Accord?

Would you like to open up a whole new world in wheel selection ? Two easy ways that are relatively inexpensive:

1) Take your 110mm x 4 axle ends to a machine shop and have them retap a 4.25 x 4 pattern for 12mm 1.5 thread pitch exactly 45 degrees offset from your existing holes. Have them drill your rear hubs as well to match the pattern. On the front, just have them do the same for the new rotors you need.

2) Do it with spacer adapters. ( about $50 apiece ). You'll have at least an inch of spacer meat, but just watch the offset on the plethora of new wheels that will now fit your ride.

Either way, you'll spend 200-300 but will be able to get really nice wheels for alot less... to easily save that or more on your wheel purchase.

I suggest the 4 x 4.25 because ... 1) it's nearly the same diameter and 2) it is all the aftermarket rims that will fit a 1979 to 1993 mustang. Don't you know that's all styles and rim sizes.

I hope I haven't blasphemed anybody's religion with this recommendation

You have a GSL-SE, there are MANY wheels that fit that bolt pattern. You don't have the "different" 4x110 pattern that is on all non gsl-se cars.

GSL-SEs are 4x4.5. There are plenty of wheels with that spacing.

Don't let the 114.3mm bother you that is just what 4.5 X 25.4 equals. (there are 25.4 mm in one inch)

But what about the OFFSET and BACKSPACING... Wheels do no good if they hit **** when the suspension compresses or you take a turn..

Offset should be 25-33mm on 7" rim. Stock wheels have a 5" backspace.

So the cars mentioned by "thafox" have that same offset/backspacing?

No, most rims have different offset. Have you tried putting on a RWD rim on FWD car? It sticks out even though it's the same width. GSL-SE's have a an offset between FWD and RWD cars but many FWD rims fit our cars.

Those look like MKI or MKII Supra/Celica wheels.

So how should I search for wheels... Tire rack goes by Year, Make Model... Not bolt pattern, offset, backspacing...

626 Turbo Wheels fit, and look good. Kinda like a 15" version of the FC phone dials.
I have two sets. One set will have graphite-painted centers with polished lip, the other I think I will completely polish.

Those numbers are for the 12a 4x110 wheels..

The gsl-se needs an offset roughly 35-40mm

These are 16x7 40mm on my -SE

any higher than 40 will rub on the springs..
