What Tires are you Guys Running for Street/Mild Auto-X Use??

As the title states, I was wondering what tires you guys use for auto-xing?
For-->
A: Track use only, or
B: Both track and street use (drive to the tack and home after running them)

And what tires have shown the best/consistent wear? Also what tire size/rim are you running?

Pics would be App.!! I am currently running the LE wheels, so I was thinking along the lines of running a 205/55 14 of the new Nitto Nt01s.

What do you guys think?!?

Thanks

Ryan

Yokohama A048 in the medium compound. I drove on mine basically all summer including quite a few Solo II events and they still have some tread left.

If I am not mistaken, they are not avaliable in the size I would want/need which is 205/55-60 14s. Either way those are some badass tires, love how they look!

More info/expereinces are appreciated!!

Just pick up some 195/60/14 falken azenis rt-615 from www.vulcantire.com for about $60 a pop. Stick great when warm and dont run out too fast.

Or if your more on a budget and want tires geared more toward all season driving. Look at falken ZE-512 Ziex. I have no experience with them but they are cheap and look like they would handle alright. $35 http://www.vulcantire.com/ze512_60_t.htm

Just get the Azenis, it is the best bang for the buck. The Yokohama A048 would be the best, i also have those.

I carry race wheels and tires in the back hatch, so we run kumho v710s in 215/45/13 (I think) on 13x7 panasports. On the street I have 205/50/15s Yoko ES100 on 15x7 panasports. That's definitely one thing we have over those miatas, I can carry 4 wheels/tires, a jack, two helmets, tools and a passenger to events. Though I'm probably going to go truck and trailer really soon...

I run the Sumitomo HTR200s on stock + wheels. 205/60(?)/13.

They're alright, but give me a really tough time in the wet. Others have said they do great in wet conditions, so maybe it's just my suspension or something. Ran one yr of autocross with two drivers at most of the events. Tires wore really fast at first, but that was probably due mostly to my inexperience and running into the corners too fast.

Not great, not bad. Best thing about them is they are dirt cheap.

I agree the Falken Azenis 615 is probably the best mixed use street compound tire. I'm partial to the Toyo RA-1 for a mixed use r-compound, but I don't auto-x. I like the RA-1 for street/open track. That V710 reco for no street, auto-x only is probably spot on.

Thanks guys I really app. the feedback! Right now I am running the old Falken Azenis (the ones that the 615 replaced) and so far I love them. The main reason I was asking was b/c I wanted to put 205s on my 14 LE wheels and the new 615s don't offer a 205, just 195.

I will def look into the RA-1s too.

You'll probably never notice the difference between the 205's and 195's. Ive never been able to tell.

I've got the Falken Ziexs on my RX7 now. Very cheap, and an excellent street tires. I wanted to get the Azenis, but since this is more of a city driven car that rarely sees autocrossing, the Ziex was better for my needs.

You wouldn't think it, but when you have the car at the limit an extra 10mm at all four corners does make a noticable difference in the way the car handels and brakes.

From: We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
I was running a Nexen something or other I still ave the tires here so ill give you the accual name in the morning. I do alot of hard mountain driving in all conditions and they are by far the best tire I have had yet. The grip is awsome, they perform great in the rain and I havnt hydroplanned yet with the. In hte snow though they are a lil iffy but that is to be expected of a summer type tyre.

When I say I like them more than the others I am not talking keep tires. I used to have yokohama Parada spec 2s, Hankook ventus, many different perrillis, KDW, and eagles. Plus they are way cheaper. I can pick up 2 nexens for te price of one parada.

I understand that it most likely does make a difference but in my admittedly limited track(3 track days) and autoX ( 8-10) experience I haven't been able to feel the difference. And I have definetly never felt the difference on the street.

What tires are available for 13" wheels besides the Sumitomo HTR200. It seems that there not alot of choices.

thanks

Toyo RA-1's are available in 185/60-13 and 205/60-13 if you want a crazy sticky tire.
