What spark plugs do you use?

Do you use hot or cold plugs??? I read that cold plugs should be used on turbo or "highway" cars, and the hot is more for city driving. What do you guys use on your first gens and what results do you get on how your car runs????

This is a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ), can be of some debate.

Almost every one runs the OE NGK spark plugs.

I don't know the exact part numbers (there are two diffenet numbers depending on your aplicaiton) but a quick search will find them for you.

The OE NGKs have a very specific electrod designe to keep them form projecting too far into the rotor housing.

Spark plugs of conventional design can go too deep, and be hit by an Apex seal causing Fatal damage to the engin.

I'm running 2nd gen NA plugs in the leading with the 2GCDFIS w/ TT and stock 1st gen plugs in the leading. I think it's BUR7EQ Leading, and BR8EQ-14 Trailing. It's an 81 12a.

But yea, I'm running the NGK's. The 2nd gen coil allows me to use the surface discharge plugs from a 2nd gen without decreased efficency.

I tried the Denso plugs, and the car ran like crap. They were out of stock on the NGKs at the time, but when they got more in I tried them and the car ran much better....

I've also used Autolite 2626s with good results (they have a one piece annular ring instead of 4 electrodes) but now they cost as much as NGKs.

too bad theres about a $30 price difference between the NGK's and autolites. however NGK is the only way to go from what i've heard.

With my old Yaw carb and MSD setup, the stock NGKs lasted only 3-5K miles.I switched to ND and they were still sharp after almost 10K.Seemed much more durable.

With the stock S5 ECU maxxed out, and running 14psi of boost,I still rely on the stock TII NGK surface fire plugs.Stock heat ranges and stock timing with an MSD6 on the leading.I get about 8K out of the plugs.Absolutely no problems in almost 5 years....

BR8EQ-14 in both holes or BUR7EQ in leading and BR8EQ-14 in trailing. It depends on my mood that day.

I run the BR8EQ-14 in a SP 12A,

I had an Auto that would flood on them. Changed to the Denso's and it has been working great.
